Tell Me about Building an Energy-Efficient Home

So you’ve decided to look into the exciting possibility of building an energy efficient home with CFS Green Homes. On behalf of Planet Earth and ourselves too, we’d like to start by saying thank you! Energy consumption in the average home is through the roof, no pun intended, and every time someone decides to make a greener choice in his or her home life, it helps to make the world a safer place for future generations. However, just like everything new and innovative, people are bound to have questions about our processes, our product, and the long-term facts of living in an efficient home.

How does my Energy Efficient Home Look Like?

If you’re not familiar with energy efficient homes, it’s easy to imagine a house straight outBuild an Energy Efficient Home of your favorite (or least favorite) science fiction film. Well, don’t worry. Your house isn’t going to be covered roof-to-foundation with solar panels, tinfoil or blinking lights (unless, of course, that’s what you want). Our homes are as simple and elegant as you want them to be. The choice of what your home will look like is completely up to you. We achieve our energy efficiency with our materials and layout, not with added clutter on your roof or walls!

Is it Safe?

In a word, yes. CFS Green Homes, like any homebuilder worth your time, does not make compromises when it comes to the health and safety of the people who will live in the homes that we build. Our materials are proof against weather, vermin and everyday wear and tear. Our safety standards are the very highest. If a building material is likely to break, degrade or compromise your safety in any way, we simply do not use it. Energy efficient homes represent an increase in home quality and safety, and we will never do anything to change that.

Will This Save Me Money?

Absolutely! For the same reason our energy efficient homes are easy on the environment, they are easy on your pocketbook. Energy efficiency means decreasing the amount of energy you put into a home without sacrificing your comfort or safety. Our homes cost less to heat and cool as well as to light up. As you well know, temperature control and lighting are not free! Because our homes require less power to regulate, you don’t need to pay as much money to the companies that provide those services. Everybody wins (except maybe the gas and electric companies, but you’ve given them enough of your money over the years)!

An Easy Transition with Positive Results

Making the change to an energy efficient home is almost exactly the same as the transition into any new home. Moving house is never easy, but we at CFS Green Homes believe that the benefits of living in one of our green, efficient homes far outweigh the inconvenience that always comes with transitioning to a new living space. Our homes are environment-friendly, stable and, of course, stylish. We trust you will enjoy living in them as much as we enjoy building them!

Nothing but Benefits of Having Eco Friendly Homes

Everybody has heard about the damaging effects that we have had on our environment.  Many have taken the time to improve on areas that are possible, but sadly many others have not.  The excuses of time and expense are among the top reasons why people have not looked into making changes to improve our planet.  What these same people do not realize is that by taking the time to improve our planet, they are also dramatically improving their own bottom dollar.  Eco friendly homes are a perfect example of this.  There is very little difference in the expense to invest in an eco friendly home but there is a noticeable financial difference that immediately benefits the homeowner.

Resale Favors the Eco Friendly Home

If you are purchasing or building a home, look into eco-friendly home options.  Not only will your utility bills be instantly lower upon move-in, your resale value will be much higher because of these same features.  Your home will come complete with one of the most desired features for a buyer, a home that will save them money.  Do not forget to check your local government for incentives and rebates as well.  Many home owners can find substantial benefits and rebates available to them if their home contains eco-friendly features.

Instant savings in your own pocket

green-homesThose living in eco-friendly homes will see about a 50% reduction in their utility bills.  You will own a home that is properly insulated ensuring that your energy costs go directly to the air in your home, not the air escaping it.  You can further increase your savings upon move in with small details such as replacing your light bulbs with energy saving bulbs and ensuring that you have a programmable thermostat.  These small and large details will reduce your home bills by over half of what you are paying right now.

Future savings in your pocket

In addition to these savings, there will be reduced maintenance cost in the future.  Moisture resistant walls, for example, will never need mildew treatment.  There is never a future need to treat your home for rusting or rotting.  You will save yourself thousands of dollars that others will spend repairing damage to older homes.  One of the largest concerns with purchasing any home is the durability of it.  With owning an eco friendly home, you will be assured that you are purchasing a home built with materials that are designed to last.

Eco friendly homes are a winning situation for everybody that is involved. If you are buying or building, these homes contain features you will not see elsewhere.  If you are a contractor, you will want to be able to provide these options to your customers.  As the world and its population ages, we are becoming more and more aware of the benefits that these homes have to both us and the environment.  We, at CFS Green Homes have dedicated ourselves to being able to provide you with a top quality product that is competitive to purchase and easy to construct with.  Talk to us today and we can explain the benefits that these homes will have for you.

Why You should Consider Energy Efficient Homes

Energy efficiency is something that an increasing number of homeowners are factoring into their decision to buy a home, do a renovation, or build from scratch. As society’s collective conscious is becoming more in tune with the environment, homeowners and builders are seeing the value of energy efficient homes. And, these benefits will continue to pay off over time.

The following will outline exactly what an energy efficient home is and include some of the many benefits to opting for green construction and renovations.

What is an Energy Efficient Home?
Energy efficiency is the reduction of the amount of energy that is used for a particular energy service such as heating, cooling, and lighting. An energy efficient home is a dwelling that is built with, and has systems in place, to help homeowners reduce the amount of energy they consume in operating their home.

Why You Should Consider Energy Efficient Homes?
There are two main parties that can reap significant benefits from taking an energy efficient approach: builders and homeowners.

From a builder’s perspective, getting involved with green construction projects and energy efficient homes allows you to offer more to your customers when they are building a home, and with more people looking for energy efficient homes, it is a market that you cannot overlook.

From a homeowner’s perspective, there are many benefits to switching to an energy efficient home. Some benefits include:

Reducing your carbon footprint: When you opt for an energy efficient home, you are reducing your carbon footprint and helping to conserve energy. This is good for everyone and collectively, the more homeowners that are onboard, the more we can reduce our carbon footprint.

A reduction in energy use: Even implementing simple changes to your home to make it more energy efficient will help reduce the amount of energy you use. But, when you make your entire home more energy efficient, it is amazing how little energy you will actually use.

Better insulation: One way to make your home more efficient is to ensure that it is properly insulated. When you do this the outside air will stay out and you will be able to better regulate the temperature in your home using less energy. This makes the environment in your home more consistent and more comfortable for your family.

A reduction in your energy bill: One of the biggest benefits of energy efficient homes is that they will save you money on your energy bills. They use less energy and take less energy to operate, creating cost savings for homeowners.

Increase the value of your home: Energy efficiency is an attractive selling feature in today’s real estate market. This is why energy efficient homes are becoming more popular. They are also more valuable and homeowners can ask for more money for their home if they decide to sell down the road.

There is no shortage of benefits that you will experience when considering energy efficient homes as an option. It is a sound investment that will pay-off in no time, and we, CFS Green Homes can help you do it!

Owning Eco Friendly Homes is a Breeze

One of the beauties of building green is that you are not only decreasing your carbon footprint, but you are saving yourself a lot of money in the process. Energy consumption in eco-friendly homes is significantly less than that of conventional homes.

Owning Eco Friendly Homes is a Breeze

Eco friendly homes from CFS Green Homes will help you get the benefits of both worlds, with the added perk of a home that’s quick and easy to build. Our eco-friendly homes cost about the same as traditionally built homes, but they can save you up to 60 per cent on your energy costs, which will make your home pay for itself down the road. You’ll even see that savings on your first power bill, so the rewards are instantaneous.

How it works
How does it work, you ask? Our eco-friendly homes feature a thermally efficient room with roof and wall panel system made of lightweight and energy-efficient materials, which are framed with strong steel studs and insulated with expanded polystyrene – giving your home an R value of up to 32 in the walls and 48 in the roof.

CFS offers you plenty of choice when it comes to our eco-friendly homes too. If you want brick, we can do brick. If you choose siding, stone or stucco, those are available as well. You can make your green home as unique as you are by customizing your home entirely to your taste and style.

We also have some guides so you won’t have to start from scratch. CFS has some great house plans for eco-friendly homes to choose from. All of them are mold, moisture and insect resistant – and are able to be appraised as a conventional home so you will have no trouble with your mortgage application.

We also offer professional home builders, as well as training for green building certification – which allows our builders to not only have specialized training in the building of eco-friendly homes, but also allows them to assemble your home quickly and efficiently. Our eco-friendly homes are typically able to be constructed much faster than a standard built home, when done by one of our qualified builders.

Built to last
If you’re concerned at all about durability, fear not. Our eco-friendly homes are built to stand the test of time. They have been tested alongside standard wood structure buildings and have surpassed the requirements. Our homes can withstand winds blowing up to 150 miles per hour, and our materials will never rust, rot or decompose. On top of that, they resist moisture absorption, which deters the growth of mold. All of this for the same cost as a traditional home.

So the only question left to ask yourself now is, why wait to build an eco-friendly home? You can own a home that will save you money and reduce your environmental impact in less time, and for the same cost as a traditional home. CFS Green Homes has what you need to learn all about green building and get you started on your green dream home today.

Commercial Construction – Ultra Energy Efficient Home

Commercial Construction | Modular Housing | Energy Efficient Home

Two Arkansas companies, The Reata Foundation, Inc, a non-profit institution commissioned to provide affordable and energy efficient housing for the American family, and Concrete & Foam Structures, LLC( CFS), a fabricator of expanded polystyrene (EPS) have joined together to produce a technological advanced building system. The result is an ultra energy efficient home for the future era of residential house building.

The Engineered fabricated home has a lifetime R insulation factor reaching R-40 on exterior walls and roof giving the homeowner a saving of 50-70% on their annual heating and cooling costs according to the United States Dept. of Energy.  This is compared to conventional stick-built wood frame house. Furthermore, the EPS home has less noise and drafts making for a quieter, more comfortable, and healthier living environment for the family. It also meets the Southern Building Code and has higher wind load and snow load ratings than stick built houses.

Ronnie Minnick, Managing Director, of the Reata Foundation, Inc. 1.800.404.2547 states, “families living today from paycheck to paycheck, they will have savings of $100-$150 a month on the electric bill. This is a substantial savings for most families.  Over the past summer with record temperatures approaching 110 degrees, our 1400 square foot model house in Monticello, Arkansas, had the thermostat set on a constant 72 degrees, and the electric bill was $38.00 and $40.00 for July and August!  Energy efficiency adds value, affordability, and comfort to a home.  On a house presently under construction in Magnolia, Arkansas, the appraiser added value to the appraisal report due to its energy efficient properties.”

The pre-fabrication portion of the EPS construction is conducted by Concrete & Foam Structures (CFS) based in Monticello, Arkansas, and the location of the modular housing plant.  Zach McClendon, CEO, is very experienced with EPS manufacturing having been involved with expanded polystyrene (EPS) products for the past 40 years as the former owner of Drew Foam Company, a major manufacturer of EPS across the south.

John Bargh serves as President of Concrete & Foam Structures, LLC, and is the engineer of the EPS technological advanced building system.  John has had a 25 year history in the glass and commercial construction industry and has spent the last 5 years developing the present EPS engineered home.
